SAN DIEGO – A woman left a trail of destruction in Del Cerro overnight Sunday after slamming into several parked cars, dragging one of them almost 40 feet down the street.
The crash occurred at 11:30 p.m. in the 5700 block of College Avenue. San Diego police say the driver lost control, crossed the median of College Avenue and hit two parked cars and motorcycle. The impact was so strong it left car parts scattered across the street. One of the parked cars was dragged down to a bus stop, where it brought down a pole.
"All of a sudden a car comes driving over the center median and crashed into all of these cars,” witness Sam Saavedra said. “She was going pretty fast, and when she went over the median you can tell she just lost control."
The driver was taken to a local hospital with unconfirmed injuries. Police she was likely under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
